A Florida dad said he’s glad his daughter was born with a penis because it helped him cope with her impotency.
The father, Paul Ebert, said his daughter, now 10, had a hard time with the transition to her gender identity.
She had been born male and wanted to wear dresses to school and would always ask to be called a boy, Ebert told WFLA-TV.
“I’m proud of her for being a boy,” he said.
“I think I was just a little bit lucky that she had a penis.”
Ebert’s daughter, whom he identified only as Katie, told the TV station that she doesn’t think she was born male.
“She didn’t even think about it,” Ebert said.
He said he and Katie grew up together, and Katie was raised as a girl.
But after Katie was born, she stopped coming to school as a boy and asked to be referred to as Katie by family and friends.
Eberts daughter also didn’t like to wear a dress, Eberts wife said.
She has since started transitioning to a girl, he told the station.
In the meantime, Ebers daughter is still allowed to wear girls’ clothes.
Ebert said he was grateful to have Katie and his wife had adopted Katie’s gender identity, and he doesn’t regret anything he did for Katie.
